PPC450 allows users to control L1 cache behavior. Users can partition L1 cache by "way" into normal cache, fixed cache and transient cache. Linux uses L1 cache as normal cache. CNK allows users to enable transient cache by specifying environment variable. (refer ​IBM BlueGene Redbook).
