Simplification of Surface Data
Quadric error metric introduced by Michael Garland and a modified qslim algorithm is used for simplification, in the context of surface data. Initial triangles are positively oriented in plane, and an additional constraint is introduced as a penalty in the decimation algorithm, to avoid negatively oriented triangles. This ensures that the surface of the glacier still has a proper representation after decimation.
